The 4 days trek starts from Xegar Checking point at the Friendship Hwy, to Dza Rongbuk Monastery and Everest Base Camp, which has become one of the most popular in Tibet-although in recent years increasing numbers of people are driving there instead of walking. Featuring spectacular views of the Himalaya from stark desert valleys, this is an unforgettable adventure for those who are not afraid to use their own two feet.
With this trip, we’ll do camping in Everest region for 4 nights. The trek can be walked in the direction opposite the one described. The trekking season in the Everest region extends from April to late October. This is a difficult high-elevation walk beginning at 4400m/14,520feet and attaining altitudes of nearly 5300m/17,490feet, so careful preparation and the right gear are imperative. Subfreezing temperatures occur even in the summer at higher elevations and, conversely, hot gusty winds in May and June can make walking a sweaty experience. Thanks to the rain shadow created by Mt. Everest (chi. Chomolangma) and its lofty neighbours, even during the monsoon months are relatively dry in the region.
